The principal of a Wisconsin middle school is working to smooth relations with a number of parents upset over a video shown recently to students. As part of an ongoing effort to support peace missions around the world, Hudson Middle School subjected young children to a leftist star-studded video called “I Pledge.”

Well-known actors and musicians were among those who demonstrated their voluntary subservience to Barack Obama through a series of pledges.

“I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama,” said singer Anthony Kiedis, while Demi Moore promised to “be a servant to our president.”

These vapid entertainers, exhibiting not even a tenuous grasp of the American system of governance, actually suggest the people exist to serve politicians instead of the other way around.

Commentary from upset locals abounded on social media, with one individual calling “I Pledge” the “creepiest and scariest video I have ever seen.”

For his part, principal Dan Koch addressed the brewing controversy with an apologetic statement, acknowledging the inappropriate message contained in the video.

“We respect the Office of the President of the United States,” he explained, “but like all of our other elected officials, that office serves each of us as well.”

Superintendent Mary Bowen-Eggebraaten also publicly lamented the incident, noting the “district is nonpartisan and does not endorse the political messages found in this video.”

She also expressed her hope that this glaring misstep “does not overshadow the value of the positive message of this event for our middle school students.”

While administrators deserve some credit for admitting the error, their apologies cannot take back the reprehensible message contained within that video. Already being indoctrinated with socialist ideals by a leftist educational system, seeing recognizable stars reinforcing those flawed notions only serves to make them more attractive.

If Hollywood elitists choose to identify themselves as slaves to the progressive cause, they certainly have that prerogative. A public school, though, should have no part in promulgating their inane rants.

In reality, the reason celebrity leftists can afford to be so brash with their statements stems from their assurance Obama’s disastrous policies will do little to interrupt their posh way of life. For the rest of us, however, this Marxist regime is on course to create a permanent class of government servants — with or without a videotaped pledge.
